The 1st annual Doral 5K Freedom Run is a PARK Project signature event to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the lives lost 9-11. It represents a monumental opportunity for the entire South Florida community to run, jog or walk alongside our military, veterans and first responders in appreciation of their sacrifices and commitment to service. The PARK Festival immediately follows the race and is meant to engage and celebrate people, companies and organizations who LIVE THE CAUSE and PARK (Perform Acts of Random Kindness) to make a difference.
On Event Day, Check In/ Registration begins at 6:00am and the USATF sanctioned 5K Freedom Run will officially start at 7:30am. The Certified & Professionally Timed Course starts inside the park and exits running north along NW 87th Avenue to NW 33rd Street, turning left (West) and thru the military headquarters of US SOUTHERN COMMAND (SOUTHCOM). After running alongside the perimeter of the parking lot, participants will exit and head East on NW 33rd Street along the same route back to registration site/ Finish Line. The entire course is on pavement and the streets will be closed to traffic by City of Doral Police. We envision a race course lined with a sea of supportive onlookers as well as US flags, patriotic banners and mile markers. Finish line commemorative tokens and Awards will be presented to participants in different category levels of achievement immediately following the run. The PARK Festival is FREE and open to the public through NOON. The entire community gathered will enjoy personal interaction with all branches of the military, veteran organizations, police, fire rescue and service families as well as food, refreshments, music and entertainment for the whole family!
